Welcome To Nyerer National Park

Nyerere National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania and one of the largest protected wildlife areas in Africa. Covering over 30,000 square kilometers (11,500 square miles), it was established in 2019 from the northern part of the former Selous Game Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Best time to visit

June to October (dry season): Best for wildlife viewing, as animals gather around rivers and waterholes. November to May (green season): Lush landscapes, excellent birdwatching, and fewer visitors, though some roads may become difficult after heavy rains.

How to get there

• By air: Scheduled light-aircraft flights operate from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, and other safari destinations to airstrips within the park.
• By road: Approximately 5–7 hours’ drive from Dar es Salaam, depending on the park entrance and road conditions.
